Cavalli Fal 2011

Cavalli Fall 2011 RTW collection this year was amazing.  A successful collaboration between textures and prints.  Cavalli captured an alluring jungle cat vibe with cheetah, snake and other animal patterns.  Attention to detailing such as fringe and feather's gave this collection an edge.

Michelle Williams: Marilyn Monroe

Ever wonder what it would be like to spend a week with Marilyn Monroe...the real Marilyn ...?  Well question no longer because Michelle Williams made a movie of this fantasy in "My Week With Marilyn."

Michelle's photo shoot with Vogue relays the essence of Marilyn Monroe.  Michelle captures Marilyn's seductive beauty and her playful nature perfectly.

Fall/Winter must haves

Ankle booties:

Loving this 60's inspired look by Nine West! The gold chrome finishes are just enough detail to make these standout. These booties come in suede and leather!!! Pair with skinny jeans or a dress! (psst. they're also on sale right now for about 100.00 USD)

Red Lipstick:

Let's face it red lipstick looks cool and chic on just about everyone.  The only thing to keep in mind is the shade ie: golder undertones or bluer undertones.  Hint: if your pale with cooler undertones and look better in pinks and silvers go for a shade that has a blue or mauve pigment.  If you are tan or look good in gold and warm colors go for a shade with a warmer tone like "brick"(yes like on the building).

To achieve the best lasting lip you'll need to put concealer, foundation or primer on your lips. Also lip pencil is helpful but not necessary.  Tarte makes a great lasting crayon type lipstick called "lip surgence" and NARS makes a great lipstick also.

Check out Michelle Phan's video for the perfect red lip!

Rain Boots:

I was excited to see that rain boots are looking more fabulous and less bulky.  DKNY makes a great less $$$ boot called "Voyager."  The boot is also fully lined and comes in two different colors, black and gray.  At only 85.00 USD it's hard not to be in style when sloshing through the snow this year!

Chocolate Bouchon:

The change in weather makes us want to spend more time at home and less out amidst the cold air.  Why not bake these delicious chocolate treats????  A chocolate Bouchon are perfectly chocolatey moist miniature cakes.  They're addictive and perfect for parties or the accompaniment of breakfast at Tiffany's.

*Chocolate bouchon recipe from Bouchon by Thomas Keller with Jeffrey Cerciello (Artisan, 2004). Recipe From:

  • Butter and flour for the timbale molds.
  • 3 1/2 ounces (3/4 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 24 tablespoons (12 ounces) unsalted butter, melted and just slightly warm
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate (Vahlrona or Scharffenberger or Lindt will do just fine), chopped into pieces the size of chocolate chips
  • Confectioner's sugar
  • Note: Bouchon uses 2-ounce Fleximolds. He says you can also use 3-ounce fleximolds.

  1. 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour twelve timbale molds. Set aside.
  2. 2
Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into a bowl; set aside.
  3. 3
In the bowl of a mixer fitted with the paddle attachment or in another large bowl if using a handhels mixer, mix together the eggs and sugar on medium speed for about 3 minutes, or until very pale in color. Mix in the vanilla. On low speed, add about one-third of the dry ingredients, then one-third of the butter, and continue alternating with the remaining flour and butter. Add the chocolate and mix to combine. (The batter can be refrigerated for up to a day.)
  4. 4
Put the timbale molds on a baking sheet. Place the batter in a pastry bag without a tip, or with a large plain tip, and fill each mold about two-thirds full. Place in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. When the tops look shiny and set (like a brownie), test one cake with a wooden skewer or toothpick: It should come out clean but not dry (there may be some melted chocolate from the chopped chocolate). Transfer the bouchons to a cooling rack. After a couple of minutes, invert the timbale molds and let the bouchons cool upside down in the molds; then lift off the molds. (The bouchons are best eaten the day they are baked.)
  5. 5
TO SERVE: Invert the bouchons and dust them with confectioners' sugar. Serve with ice cream, if desired.
